Clay
as an art form has interested me since I was an art major in college.
This interest followed me through long periods of military service
and university teaching, research and administration. Now, teaching
at the Potters' Guild and making utilitarian stoneware wheel thrown
vessel forms is what I do with clay. The formal design aspects
of shape, the interaction of positive and negative space, and
the placement of attachments along with surface treatments to
form the visual image are of particular interest to me in the
art making process. I continue to learn from workshops and study,
but often the greatest inspiration is from the talented potters
around me. |
