Ellen Shankin's workshop

Ellen uses the handle of a trimming tool to create a scalloped effect on the edge of a thrown bowl.

This bowl has a rim with a wave effect, created by finger pressure.

Right after throwing, the base of this jar is squared by applying outward and upward pressure from the inside.

This large casserole has a squared base, which creates the illusion of feet. It also has a lid and handles that reflect the general shape and simplicity of the piece.
